UA Renames Business School
In an unprecedented move toward simplification and clarity, on Jan. 26 the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees struck a word from the name of the business college in Fayetteville.
Henceforth, the Sam M. Walton College of Business Administration will be known simply as the Sam M. Walton College of Business.
The board was apparently on a roll.
At the same time, it voted to change the Walton College’s Department of Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis to the Department of Information Systems.
Doyle Z. Williams, dean of the Walton College, said it was a matter of simplifying the name and “better aligning it with our educational mission.”
The change was proposed by the dean’s Executive Advisory Board last fall.
Along with the change, the Business Administration Building on the Fayetteville campus will be renamed the Business Building.
