Jose’s Mexican Restaurant recently entered the retail market by packaging its salsa and margarita mix to sell as to-go items at the entrance of the Fayetteville restaurant.

The bottled salsa, which comes with a free bag of chips, is ready to eat. The bottled salsa is somewhat different from the restaurant version because the bottled version is cooked, said Katie Wilson, a spokeswoman for Jose’s.

Joe Fennel, owner of the Dickson Street restaurant, said customers like the taste of the bottled salsa because it compares to well-known brands such as Pace picante sauce. Springdale Grocers makes Jose’s retail original and mild salsa varieties.

Jose’s margarita mix requires the addition of water, tequila and triple sec. United Citrus of Norwalk, Mass., the same company that produces Jose’s in-house margarita mix, manufactures the packaged retail version.
