Outfitters Out Already in Downtown Fayetteville
The banner proclaiming “Now Open” still hangs above the doors of Adams Outfitters on Dickson Street in Fayetteville, but the entrance is locked tight. Owner Bill Adams decided to pull the plug on the outdoor store on Dec. 26 after less than four months of business.
Inadequate parking shunned potential customers, Adams said, and “an outdoor store thrives off people coming in to look.”
This was Adams’ third location in Northwest Arkansas. The 4,000-SF store was Elmo’s Pack & Paddle Inc. until Aug. 15 when Adams bought it from Elmo Hicks for an undisclosed amount.
Adams does plan to try opening another location of the store in Fayetteville at some point, and he maintained his anchor store in Rogers. He sold the Dickson building lease to an unnamed person who is reportedly planning to put in a bar.
