Designing the shape and color of the land makes Rick Shelton happy, and his partner Jerome Porter enjoys creating perfect space for the design. Working together, the pair landscapes anything from a small personal garden to an elaborate entryway with fountains and lush foliage. Vice president Chris Shields holds down the office duties.

Shelton provides the design skills for Dramatic Garden Designs Inc. by bringing three years of design experience to the job, and Porter works with the contracting for the business, cutting stone and laying design concrete. Seven years of landscape contracting experience followed Porter through the doors of the shop.

Operating with a contractor’s license, the landscape office offers home and business owners a chance to refresh their yards and gardens with designs including new tile, paved walkways, garden sculptures and an array of colorful plants.

From the preliminary drawings to the finished installation, the company works to provide a unique space for its clients. Because the shop does not currently offer a maintenance contract for customers, the owners provide a culture sheet for the installed plants. History and instructions for proper care of the plants are included in the package.

Shelton said Dramatic Garden Designs should soon have an Internet site with a virtual storefront to serve Northwest Arkansas.
