Bill McFetridge, owner of Ozark Film and Video Productions Inc. of Springdale, is working on a deal to produce a 50-minute IMAX film of the Buffalo National River.
McFetridge says the film would be produced with the help of Gary Jones, owner of Jones Productions of Little Rock.
IMAX film frames are 10 times larger than traditional 35mm movie film, allowing IMAX movies to be projected onto a much larger screen for viewing.
“It’s like a six-story high screen,” McFetridge says.
The only IMAX theater in Arkansas is in Little Rock.
Jones produced a six-minute “signature film” called “Arkansas: Center of Attraction” that is frequently shown at the Little Rock IMAX theater. That film was funded by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.
