Outtakes – CPI Cans BusinessInk
Community Publishers Inc. has ceased publication of its “BusinessInk” section, which had appeared each Sunday since January in CPI’s two daily newspapers — the Northwest Arkansas Times of Fayetteville and The Benton County Daily Record of Bentonville.
rThe last issues of the newspapers containing BusinessInk were published Sept. 24.
rTimes Editor Ritta Martin Basu said BusinessInk was no longer needed since CPI had entered an “alliance” with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette in August. Since then, readers of the CPI dailies and the D-G had been receiving both BusinessInk and “Business Matters,” the weekly business section of the D-G.
r”We determined that there was not a need for two separate business sections,” Martin said. “Business Matters covers a broader area, thus [Times] readers will be provided expanded business coverage.”
rMartin said reporters and editors who worked on BusinessInk have been reassigned to other duties at the CPI newspapers.
