Big Guys Sub Co. found the compromise between fast food and a leisurely sit-down meal, owner Brian Down says.

Hot sandwiches made fresh on order and built to suit the customer are Down’s business, and anyone from high school kids to white-collar workers can take advantage of the sub shop, Down says.

Recommending the po’ boy, Down enjoys his restaurant work. Down’s uncle owned an AQ Chicken until recently, and Down says he wanted to do something similar, on a less expensive scale.

People ranging in age from 20 to 40 make up the bulk of the sandwich shop’s customer base, Down says.

Along with its anchor store in Rogers, the Bentonville location services customers with dine-in, take-out or delivery.

Although the two stores are doing well in Northwest Arkansas, Down says he has plans for two or three more shops in the area.

Currently, the two shops employ about 20 people who rotate between the stores.
