MBA students at the Sam M. Walton College of Business Administration will learn to invest and manage money firsthand this spring. Brothers Dudley and Kenneth Shollmier of Little Rock and Harahan, La., gave the college $250,000 to create an investment portfolio class for the University of Arkansas MBA program.

A class of six to 10 students will allocate the funds from the Shollmier MBA Investment Fund to the industries of their choice, deciding also how much to distribute between companies within the industries. Research for the project has begun, said Wayne Lee, the finance department chairman and teacher for the new class.

The brothers, both graduates of the UA, also donated money for a $5,000 faculty award to be given each year. When the investment fund endowment exceeds $500,000, further earnings will also provide money for the award.
