Glass Everywhere in Royals? Office
David Glass, former CEO of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for 12 years and current owner of the Kansas City Royals, has filled the KC front office with family members.
Glass is also serving as chairman of the board of the Royals, but there are four other family members involved with the club.
Glass paid $96 million for the Royals, which was approved by Major League Baseball’s owners April 17. The very next day, son Dan was named club president. Dan assisted with player development and scouting for the Royals from 1994-98.
Wife Ruth, son Donald and daughter Dayna Martz recently joined David and Dan on the Royals’ board of directors.
David Glass is a native of Mountain View, Mo., and is currently a board member of Wal-Mart, the Bank of Bentonville and a member of The Business Council.
