Harris’ fund ATU-Ozark scholarships

Richard and Lexie Harris of Ozark have funded two non-endowed scholarships through the Arkansas Tech University Foundation for the purpose of providing scholarships for students attending Arkansas Tech University-Ozark. 

The two scholarships are in honor of the couple’s fathers, Benny R. Harris and William “Bud” Rue.

Richard Harris is the chief student officer at ATU-Ozark.

Benny R. Harris is the father of Richard Harris and is a 1969 graduate of ATU with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and is employed with Liberty Bank in Russellville. Benny Harris is vice chairman to the ATU Foundation Board and serves on the board’s finance committee.

William “Bud” Rue is the father of Lexie Harris and is a 1969 ATU graduate with a bachelor’s degree in general business. Rue is now retired after 35 years as the manager of key accounts at Arkansas Valley Electric Co-op. Rue was involved in the merger process between ATU and the Ozark campus in 2003 which led to Rue becoming a current member of the Board of Advisors.
