The Arkansas Oklahoma State Fair is celebrating its 73rd anniversary. The fair began Sept. 25 at Kay Rodgers Park in Fort Smith, and continues through Oct. 3.
Begun in 1936 as the Fort Smith Livestock Exposition, the 2009 fair “continues the tradition by educating and entertaining” with more than 2,500 exhibitors, vendors and more than 135,000 visitors during the 9-day event, according to the fair’s Web site.
