UAFS students win conference student-athletes honor
University of Arkansas at Fort Smith’s Lucia Najselova and Ethan Adamson have been named Heartland Conference Academic Student-Athletes of the Week.
It is the second week in a row that UAFS has had a student-athlete earn the honor. Last week, McKenzie McCullough, a junior tennis player from Henryetta, Okla., earned the honor.
Najselova, a junior setter from Nitra, Slovakia, earned NJCAA Academic All-American honors last year after compiling a 3.71 grade-point average while majoring in psychology. Najselova was named a preseason NJCAA Division I first team All-American, NJCAA first team All-American, AVCA first team All-American, NJCAA Division I Player of the Week and NJCAA Region II MVP.
Adamson, a junior golfer from Fort Smith, compiled a 3.07 grade-point average last year while majoring in business administration. He won three golf tournaments this past season, including the NJCAA Region II tournament, and finished seventh in the NJCAA national tournament. Adamson also tied for medalist honors in the season-opening Show Me Summer Shootout on Sept. 1 at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo.
