UAFS names Krehbiel to senior staff

Dr. Lee Krehbiel of Pocatello, Idaho, now the vice president for student affairs at Idaho State University, will begin Sept. 28 as the vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.

"I am very pleased to have Dr. Krehbiel as a part of my senior staff at UA Fort Smith," said UAFS Chancellor Dr. Paul Beran, "and I know he will have much to contribute in the student affairs arena. His background is extensive and diverse, having served in student affairs at several different universities."

At Idaho State, Krehbiel managed all facets of student affairs, including 12 departments and budgets totaling nearly $20 million. His experience includes work with accreditation, crisis management, student government, gender centers, student health centers, career development, counseling services, housing and food service, campus security, ADA services, AIDS education, NCAA certification, academic standards, first-year seminar, campus ministry and federal programs.

Krehbiel’s responsibility at UAFS focuses on student life outside the classroom, such as student residential life, fitness center oversight, student life programming, clubs, Greek life and co-curricular activities, according to a UAFS statement.

He previously served at Idaho State as an associate dean and an assistant dean and also taught at Idaho State. Krehbiel also was employed as a research associate at the Indiana Education Policy Center at Indiana University and as director of alumni building and campus activities at Berea College in Kentucky.

Krehbiel has a bachelor’s degree in history from Wichita State University, and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education-social studies from Kansas University. He also earned a master’s degree in college student personnel administration and his doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies are from Indiana University-Bloomington.
