Museum of Discovery Re-opens After 9-Month Renovation

It has been 9 months in the making, but the multi-million renovation of the Arkansas Museum of Discovery is complete. The facility re-opened to the public last weekend.
The renovations were made possible by a $9.2 million grant from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.
The math and science museum is dedicated to exploring weather, dinosaurs, geography and human anatomy. It is the oldest museum in Arkansas, opened in 1929, now located in Little Rock’s River Market.

The museum’s executive director Nan Selz says since the museum moved to President Clinton Avenue in 1998 it had not been updated. She says the renovations were vital to keep the museum a leader in math and science.
“I think if we are not comfortable with science there is not much future for us in the workforce. For our kids, we want them to like science and math and want to study it because it will help them in careers in the future,” says Selz.
