Second District Congressman Tim Griffin (R) has been named to a third committee, the prestigious House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Griffin is already serving on the Judiciary Committee and Armed Services Committee. He is also an Assistant Whip for the Republican majority.

“I am humbled to have the opportunity to continue the tradition of Arkansans serving on the Foreign Affairs committee. I am honored and excited to work on important issues such as deployment and use of our military, promotion of democracy and human rights, advancement of international peace and stability, and control of illegal narcotics,” Griffin said in a statement.

Also today, Fourth District Congressman Mike Ross (D) announced he will serve on three key subcommittees on the House Committee on Energy & Commerce.

The three subcommittees are: Subcommittee on Health; Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations; and, Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade.

Ross and Third District Congressman Steve Womack have acknowledged that they will sit with each other at the President’s State of the Union address next week. The bipartisan move is a break from tradition whereby members of Congress sit with their respective fellow party members.
