The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith received a Spotlight Award during a 7th annual awards ceremony that recognizes Arkansas businesses and organizations that support a healthy work-life balance.

Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe presented the award to UAFS Chancellor Paul Beran at the May 12 event at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock.

This was the seventh annual ceremony for the awards, formerly called the
Governor’s Family-Friendly Awards.

Employees at UAFS can receive health and dental coverage at no cost after completing testing and enrolling in the employee wellness program. In addition to other features of the UAFS health coverage, the plan was modified this year to cover diabetic testing
supplies at no cost to the participants.

UAFS was one of 11 Spotlight Award winners, and one of only two for the area. Arvest Bank in the River Valley region also received a Spotlight Award, according to a statement from UAFS.
