The Arkansas Academy of Computing (AAoC) granted 14 $500 scholarships to students at five different Arkansas universities, part of an effort to advance education and careers in science and technology.

The Academy is made up of former executives and employees at Acxiom, Arkansas Systems (now Euronet Services), and Systematics/Alltel Information Services (now Fidelity National Information Services) – all start-up Arkansas companies whose founders are Academy members.

For the 2011 calendar year, scholarships have been awarded to students majoring in computer science, computer engineering or information systems at the following institutions:

  • University of Arkansas at Fayetteville
  • University of Arkansas at Little Rock
  • University of Central Arkansas
  • Arkansas Tech
  • University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff

The Arkansas Academy of Computing is an honorary academy of the department of computer science and computer engineering at the University of Arkansas. It was established in 2006 to recognize those individuals who have made a significant contribution to the computing industry in Arkansas. The Academy, which is not restricted to University of Arkansas graduates or even college graduates, includes many computing industry pioneers whose long-term dedication and effort have created employment for thousands of Arkansans.
