Bentonville-based Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas said Thursday (May 21) that it has unlocked a “transformational investment” by raising enough money to receive a $1 million Mabee Foundation challenge grant.

The deadline to raise $1.8 million toward the challenge grant was Wednesday (May 20), and “the successful completion of the Mabee Foundation challenge was made possible through the generosity of individual donors, corporate partners, and community advocates who rallied behind the campaign and its mission,” according to a news release.

The money supports the nonprofit’s Building for Success campaign. The nonprofit has raised $6.67 million so far, including the $1 million from the Mabee Foundation.

“Meeting the Mabee Foundation challenge is a powerful reflection of what our community can accomplish together,” CEO Frankie Rankin said. “We are deeply grateful to the Mabee Foundation and to the many donors and partners whose support made this possible. This milestone allows us to move forward with our Building for Success Campaign and the Pat Walker Center for Success, a central hub where single-parent families can access support, personal growth, professional development, and the resources they need to achieve long-term stability. The impact of this investment will be felt for generations.”

In June 2025, the nonprofit launched a $7.4 million campaign to build a new headquarters in Springdale that will expand services and increase capacity for support of single-parent families in Benton, Carroll, Madison and Washington counties.

The Willard and Pat Walker Charitable Foundation provided the lead gift of $1.5 million for the campaign, and the new building will be named in honor of the foundation. The Pat Walker Center for Success will be located at 806 Founders Park Drive, north of U.S. Highway 412, in the Har-Ber Meadows community of Springdale.

The new 13,000-square-foot building will be triple the size of the organization’s existing office in Bentonville. It bought the 1.42-acre site for the new office for $485,000 in August 2022. Batesville-based First Community Bank provided a two-year loan of $388,000.

Rankin said the nonprofit hopes to reach its campaign goal and begin construction on the Pat Walker Center for Success this year. Construction is expected to take between 12 and 18 months, and the hope is that the nonprofit will move into the new center by early 2028.
