Carolyn M Harrison

Carolyn M. Harrison, 69, of Charleston, Arkansas passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Baptist Health in Fort Smith. She was born on November 5, 1956, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to the late Joel Walter Black and Joyce (Tudor) Black. She was preceded in death by her parents; her family members, Ann Walton, Gene Parker, William Black, Roy Black, and Floyd Black; and her grandson, Paxton Herrera.

Carolyn worked and retired from Greenhurst Nursing Center as a registered nurse. Many knew her as Mama Carol. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A public viewing will be held at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29th at Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Charleston. Cremation will follow after the viewing.

She is survived by her three sons, Steven Hess of Branch, Jason Walter of Lavaca, and Joseph Herrera of Charleston; a sister, Mary Lue Mondier; a brother, Rickey Black; three grandchildren, Levi Hess of Fort Smith, Mellow Gonser of Fort Smith, and Victoria Herrera of Crossett; and two great-grandchildren, Honey Gonser and Evandar Gonser, both of Fort Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Hess, Joseph Herrera, Joseph Matthews, Zac Montgomery, Kade Hurley, Xavier Scarbrough, Jason Walter, and Jason Root.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.
