E. George Myers, age 88 of Fort Smith passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025. He was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi to Bude and Sarah Myers on February 4, 1937. He was employed by ABF for over 40 years. At ABF he held the position of manager in Philadelphia, Mississippi, Akron, Cincinnati, and Dayton, Ohio. In 1979 he moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas as regional vice president of operations and in that capacity moved to Asheville, North Carolina in 1980. He returned to Fort Smith in 1989 having been promoted to Vice President of Human Resources and retired there in 2000. When he was younger, he served in the Mississippi National Guard and he was always proud of his service time. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church and loved going to church and Sunday school. He also enjoyed playing golf with his friends and meeting new people. He never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Normalyn after nearly 71 years of marriage. They have three children, Ed, Dawn and Brett. His son Ed of Fort Smith and his two sons, Eddie and Andy. Daughter Dawn and husband Joe James of Batesville, Arkansas. His son Brett and wife Lesley of Dallas, Texas, and their three children, Beckham, Anna and Gideon. Two nieces, Tommye Lynn and husband Jimmy Porter of Pearl, Mississippi; Joey and husband Rocky Langston of Edinburg, Mississippi. George was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Imogene and husband Marion Perry of Jackson, Mississippi, Jeanine and husband W.T. Porter of Philadelphia, Mississippi, and his beloved daughter-in-law Sherlett Myers of Fort Smith.

Visitation will be 10 AM – 11 AM, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with the Funeral Service beginning at 11 AM, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Porter. Burial will follow at Steep Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Eddie Myers, Andrew Myers, David Ferguson, Roy Slagle, Steven Wagner, Jim Hail

Honorary pallbearer: Curtis Weaver.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Side Baptist Church, 2710 Massard Road, Fort Smith, AR 72903 for their food giveaway program.
