Charles Winford Bartlett, age 84, passed away on October 26, 2025. He was born September 4, 1941 in Fort Smith, Arkansas and was raised in Greenwood, Arkansas.

Heaven had quite the celebration on Sunday, as it welcomed Charles home through those pearly gates. Known to many as “Grandpa,” he was the perfect mix of toughness and tenderness — a man whose strength was matched only by his boundless heart.

Charles was the kind of man who always put family first. He adored his children and grandchildren and took immense joy in every milestone, birthday, and simple moment spent together. Whether it was a game, a graduation, or just a Sunday visit, you could count on him to be there — often after driving hours just to see the ones he loved. He never missed a call, a celebration, or a chance to show up for his family. He was patient, understanding, and quietly wise. He made everyone around him feel seen, supported, and deeply loved.

A true country boy at heart, Charles had a passion for feeding others — and he never did anything halfway. He’d arrive with a car full of food and leave everyone with a “goody bag” to last until the next visit. His kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and full bellies, and his generosity knew no bounds.

Charles’s strong work ethic was evident from an early age. He began his career in the baking industry in 1960 with Shipley Baking Company, where his coworkers affectionately nicknamed him “Matt Dillon.” He later joined Rainbo Baking Company, where he dedicated many years of loyal service before retiring in 1995. Never one to sit still, he went on to hold countless jobs, each one a reflection of his determination and grit. He finished his working years at Yeager’s Hardware, where his friendly nature, reliability, and willingness to help others made him a beloved part of the team. He was a man who valued hard work, kept his word, and took pride in every task he set his hands to.

Charles found joy in the simple things: family gatherings, watching his grandkids grow, and seeing the happiness of those he loved most. His presence will be deeply missed at every get-together, every milestone, and every holiday — but his spirit will continue to fill those spaces with warmth and laughter.

He is preceded in death by parents Orval and Nellie (Pigg) Bartlett, four sisters Margie, Nelda, Martha, and Mary, three brothers Kenneth, Sherman, and Jerry, and is survived by wife Genia Bartlett, sister Drucilla Satterfield, sons Charles E. Bartlett and wife Melissa Bartlett, and Terry Bartlett. Grandchildren Stephanie Young and husband Joshua Young, Jennifer Dostert and husband Brandon Dostert, and Gabriel Guise. Great Grandchildren Brayden Domerese, Carson Dostert, Camden Dostert, Courtlyn Dostert, and Beckham Young.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, October 30th, 2025 at 2pm at Mt. Zion Cemetery, 4101 Mt. Zion Rd, Greenwood, AR 72936. Visitation will be held at 1pm, followed by the graveside service at 2pm. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather and share memories of a man whose heart and legacy will live on forever.

Pallbearers will be Charles E. Bartlett, Terry Bartlett, Brandon Dostert, Joshua Young, Brayden Domerese, and Carson Dostert.

Rest in love, Grandpa. You were the best in every way, and we will love you always.
