Joyce Alene Newton

Joyce Alene Newton, 84 of Pocola passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Fort Smith. She was born August 8, 1941, in Fort Smith to the late Richard Thomas and Sybil Lorene Harris. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She retired after 28-1/2 years as Personnel and Training Manager for Kmart in Fort Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws Matthew “Doc” and Goldie Newton and the love of her life Clyde Houston Newton.

Viewing will be Thursday November 13, 2025, from 1pm – 5pm at Edwards Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Friday November 14, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Newton is survived by her daughter Teresa Perkins and husband (the son she never had) Billy Perkins of Pocola OK, her grandson Brandon Perkins of Arkoma OK and great granddaughter, “Babycakes” Zoey Perkins of Arkoma OK.
