Jimmy Dale Gordey, 72, of Greenwood, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born on February 21, 1953, in Houston, Texas, he entered the world as James Dale Foster to parents Donald Melvin and Eddye Allan (Gordey) Foster. Tragically, his father passed just days before his birth, and his mother died 26 months later. In July 1956, Jimmy was lovingly adopted by William Eddyce and Zona Gordey, who raised him in a home filled with faith and family.
Jimmy proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and later retired from Whirlpool. He was a devoted member of Valley View Church of Christ, where his faith and fellowship brought him joy and comfort throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by both sets of parents—Melvin and Eddye Foster, and William and Zona Gordey—as well as his sister, Carolyn Foster Deal.
Jimmy is survived by his brothers, Richard Gordey and Gregory Gordey; his sisters, Dolores Foster Smallwood, Diane (Shrider) Maggetti, Barbara (Gordey) Filbeck, and Valerie (Gordey) Beshears. He also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will deeply miss his warmth, humor, and kindness.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1 at Valley View Church of Christ in Greenwood. Inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
We, along with his Valley View Church of Christ family, are comforted by the hope and promise that we will see him again.
