On September 14, 2025, 6:00 PM, our best friend, father and husband has left to go get his new body, that can once again run, walk, ride horses, ride motorcycles, and so much more.

He was born in Branch, AR on May 7, 1937, son of Marcus and Rosie Polk.

His is survived by his wife, Connie of 63 years; one daughter, Billie Gayle Sanders and husband JR; one grandson, Tanner Hooper and wife Marissa. Carl affectionately called Tanner, “T-Man.” He was blessed with two brothers and one sister. The oldest brother, Earl Jr. Polk, and younger brother, Clifton Polk, were also proud fireman. His sister, Billie Jean Martin, and bonus daughter, Robbie Kendig Bonewell; lots of precious nieces and nephews, and great friends.

Carl served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Fort Smith Fire Department after 25 years as Captain, having his first heart attack mowing the yard at Station 5.

Carl owned and operated Cow-Polks Leather Shop in Van Buren, AR for 15 years, three months and one day.

His favorite hobbies were riding motorcycles, horses, and flying airplanes. His love for flying came after he achieved his private pilot license. He really loved flying ultra light with all his friends.

Carl and Connie moved to Mena to be with T-Man in 1999. Carl loved being T-Man’s Pop, more than anything.

A special Thank You to his caretaker of five years, Kelly Westbrook of Area Agency, who took the greatest care of Carl. She was an Angel sent from God to love and to tend to all his needs.

His message to family and friends: “Be sure I see you again in Heaven”
