Joyce Marie Rushing

Joyce Marie Rushing of Booneville, Arkansas, peacefully submitted to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in Paris, Arkansas. She was born on March 12, 1939, in Booneville, the oldest of nine children, to the late Coy Brannam and Margaret (Basinger) Brannam Bobbit. She was 86 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert S. Rushing; two brothers, Richard Brannam and Larry Brannam; two sisters, Doris Jean Robinson and Rose Esther Covey; a daughter-in-law, Laura Hise; and a sister-in-law, Penny Brannam.

Joyce was a retired CNA for St. Edwards Hospital in Fort Smith and Greenhurst Nursing Center in Charleston. She was a devoted Christian and friend to all. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, gardening, attending her church, and enjoyed the company of her many friends and family.

She is survived by her four sons, James Hise of Booneville, Stanley Hise of Hope, Freddy Sutphin and wife Dawn of Cecil, and Hank Sutphin and wife Kristy of Lavaca; a brother, Damon Brannam of Hackett; four sisters, Ruth Walker and husband Archie, Sr. of Sugar Grove, Brenda Birge and husband Tom of New Blaine, Martha Smith of Magazine, and Marilyn Burrows and husband Rickie of Charleston. She is also survived by many grandchildren and step-grandchildren whom she loved dearly including Michael Hise, Jessica Staton, Toby Sutphin, Shawn Sutphin, Shelby Sutphin, Kyler Varnell, Laten Sutphin, and Breanna Sutphin; (14) great-grandchildren; and (5) great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 17th at Grace Church in Booneville, with Bro. Lynn Weaver and Bro. Steve Quick officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery in the Sugar Grove Community, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Grace Church in Booneville.
