Robert Thomas Ross Sr. (“Bob”), born April 3, 1949, in Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at the age of 76.

Bob was the son of Thomas Franklin Ross and Geraldine Ross and the proud father of Robert Thomas Ross Jr., who was the center of his world. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda Ross Olson and John D. Olson Jr.; daughter-in-law, Mikayla Dietz-Ross; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob attended the University of Tulsa before making his home in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he owned and operated Ross Custom Woodworking, a custom cabinet shop. Known for his exceptional attention to detail, Bob’s craftsmanship turned every cabinet into a work of art that combined durability, function, and beauty. His shop became a trusted name in the region, and his work can be found in countless homes and businesses across the community.

More than his work, Bob will be remembered for the way he could light up a room. He had a presence that was larger than life and touched countless people with his warmth, humor, and compassion. Bob was deeply ingrained in the Fort Smith community, always willing to lend a hand or share a laugh, and he leaves behind a legacy of integrity and friendship.

He loved going to Lake Tenkiller, listening to live music, attending Razorback games, working in his shop, and most of all, spending time with his son. Whether out on the water, in the stands, or simply at home, Bob found joy in the simple pleasures of life and the people around him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, August 26, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at First Methodist Church in Fort Smith, with private burial in Roselawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to local animal shelters, celebrating Bob’s lifelong love of animals.
