Rebecca Anne Faichney, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on May 18, 1952, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Darrell Meyer and Frances Young.

Rebecca attended Oklahoma State University, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Journalism. On New Year’s Eve of 1992, she married the love of her life, Thomas Faichney, in a ceremony held at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Throughout her life, Rebecca was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and loved ones. Her passion extended beyond the home, as she dedicated herself to rescuing and fostering animals—especially dogs and cats—offering them the love and comfort of a second chance.

Rebecca and Thomas shared a love of travel and explored many destinations together. Some of their favorite memories were made in the Mediterranean, the Pacific Islands, Tahiti, Fiji, and the Caribbean. Their final trip together was to Hawaii and Guam in 2018.

In addition to her love for animals and travel, Rebecca found joy in reading and gardening. She will be remembered for her quick wit, sharp intellect, deep compassion, and unwavering love for animals. Above all, she was a devoted and loving wife.

Rebecca is survived by her husband of 32 years, Thomas Faichney; her nephew, Gordon Linton; her great-niece, Ariana Linton; and cherished friends, Dr. Janie Brixey; Nancy and Bill Martin; and Sheila and Brad Roberts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Darrell and Frances Meyers; her aunt and uncle, Jack and Shirley; two sisters-in-law from Scotland; and her beloved Aunt Janie and Uncle Al Albertson.

Cremation is under the thoughtful direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs, AR.
