Professional background: Since joining Outdoor Cap in May 2011, Jeter has worked in numerous sales and product development roles. She’s led the company’s promotional division since July 2022 and was named to her existing role in July 2023. She’s been integral to enhancing the company’s customer experience by improving networks and how teams are paired with territories to provide customers with multiple ways to order. In the community, Jeter oversees the annual Christmas outreach program for Heart to Heart of Northwest Arkansas, partnered with the Bentonville Church of Christ.
What is the most fulfilling part of your work? The people. Whether teaching, caring, coaching or simply sharing a laugh together, the people make all the difference in my work.
What do you think of the opportunities that exist for women in business compared with when you started? Every day holds a new opportunity for us to create or perfect something we did not have in the past. Appreciate what was laid out for you, but do not be afraid to make something better. Know that you were planned to be here at this moment, and you can make a difference.
Who was a big mentor to you in the early part of your career? Teresa Webb is a leader with the biggest heart. She is brilliant and creates an amazing environment at every turn, always looking for ways to help others inspiring others to follow. She is a constant shining light, always looking to serve others.
How should women support other women in their organizations? Our culture is obsessed with the “it girl.” She is defined as a woman who has it all together — whatever “it” is at the moment. What if instead we looked at the “is” girl? She is accepted. She is valued. She is creative. She is organized. She is exactly who we need in this moment, and we are so thankful she is here.
What is the best leadership advice you have ever received? You interview every day for your next job, so show up with a good attitude, be willing to work hard and always be kind. You never know who you are interacting with or what someone will see you do.
What are some of the leadership skills that helped you move up in your organization? I was taught early in my career to be a sponge. Take in every ounce of information you can because you never know when you will need it in the future. Always give everything 100%, and always be on time.
Why do you think companies would benefit from having more women at the top? People will forget what you say and what you do; they will never forget how you make them feel. Women often bring emotional intelligence, and sometimes that is just what is needed to create a great culture and make the company a place people want to be.
What is something distinctive that people would be surprised to know about you? I love to plan events and organize. Small, big, giving back or celebrating someone, what better way than to bring people together?
What’s the most recent book you’ve read? “So Long, Insecurity” by Beth Moore.
What do you do to relax when not working? I love to hunt and fish. A day in the woods or relaxing at the river have a way of putting your mind at ease.
