Dick’s Sporting Goods to open discount store in Fayetteville
Specialty retailer Dick’s Sporting Goods will open an outlet store at 2999 N. College Ave., in Fayetteville’s Fiesta Square later this month. The store will be located in the site formerly occupied by Hastings.
This is not a traditional Dick’s Sporting Goods store. It will feature discounted items with savings up to 70% off of retail. The Dick’s Warehouse Sale format is relatively new for the retailer. The Fayetteville location will be one of 10 discount outlet warehouses Dick’s operates in the U.S. Other warehouse formats are in Oklahoma City, Olathe, Kan., Fenton, Mo., four in Texas, and one in Alabama and Illinois.
The soft opening of the Fayetteville location is planned around Oct. 18-20. The closest Dick’s Sporting Goods retail store is in Fort Smith. The Fayetteville outlet store will employ less than 10 workers full and part-time combined, according to the company.
Dick’s Sporting Goods also owns the Moosejaw Bike & Ski store in downtown Bentonville. It is one of 3 Moosejaw formats the retailer is not closing in the coming weeks as it integrates the Moosejaw business it acquired from Walmart earlier this year into its Public Lands business, including the corporate offices.
The outdoor and sports apparel business said it plans to hire 8,600 seasonal workers in the U.S. ahead of the holiday season.
