William J. Shea Jr., who has served as a board member for J.B. Hunt Transport Services since 2011, resigned his position effective April 16 according to a recent  filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Shea resigned to pursue other business opportunities and not as a result of any disagreement with the company or its operations, policies or practices.

In the filing, J.B. Hunt management thanked Shea for his service and said the company will fill the vacancy when a qualified candidate is identified. The board does not expect to nominate a candidate to fill this vacancy prior to the company's annual shareholder meeting set for April 26 at its home office in Lowell.
