Yaffe receives Oklahoma ‘healthy business’ award

The Yaffe Companies Inc. have been named as a recipient of the Oklahoma State Department of Health Community Development Services, “Oklahoma Certified Healthy Business Award.”

Tulsa- based CareATC, an employer-clinic provider, nominated the company for the honor.

“This award is exciting and verifies our long-standing commitment to employee health and well-being,” said Sean Yaffe, president, Yaffe Iron & Metal Corp. “Taking care of your employees is simply the right thing to do and something our company has focused on since our inception.”

Once nominated, a company is interviewed by the Oklahoma Department of Health about all aspects of its health and wellness plans. The program began in 2003 recognizing those businesses (both profit and non-profit) that are working to improve Oklahoma’s health status by providing health and wellness opportunities for their employees.

The Yaffe Companies, Inc. were recognized for their excellence based on the following categories:
• Comprehensive company sponsored health plan with high employer premium contributions and low deductibles.

The Yaffe Companies and its subsidiaries have evolved over the years into one of the largest privately owned scrap metal processing operations in the Midwest. The company’s origin dates back to 1907 when the first yard was established in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
