Robert Albert “Bob” McCaslin, 72, of Pocola, Oklahoma, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 8, 2026. He was born on October 29, 1953, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Albert Eugene McCaslin and Edna Lee (Gregory) McCaslin.

Bob graduated from Pocola High School and later attended Carl Albert State College. He proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran and we have the hats to prove it. He was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation. In recognition of his service, dedication, and character, he was honored as Choctaw Veteran of the Year.

On February 10, 1978, Bob married the love of his life, Barbara Susan (Donald) McCaslin, at Bluff Avenue Baptist Church. Together they built a marriage rooted in faith, love, and friendship. Barbara was not only his wife but also his very best friend, and he remained completely devoted to her throughout their 48 years together.

Bob was known as one of the hardest-working men around. He rarely let obstacles slow him down and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed it. Whether he was mowing the yard, the neighbors yard, your yard or the ditch all the way to the highway, working on a puzzle, spending time with friends, or enjoying the company of his beloved dogs—Charlie, Beau, and Ozzy—(did they really need baths and trims every week), Bob found joy in life’s simple blessings.

Above all else, Bob loved his family. He treasured every moment with his children and grandchildren, taking great pride in watching them grow. His grandchildren knew him not only as Papa, but as the one who never hesitated to be silly—making up goofy voices and songs, dancing around the house, and dressing up in costumes at Christmas just to make them laugh. Those joyful moments and priceless memories will forever be treasured by the family he loved so deeply. But the greatest love of his life was his Savior, Jesus Christ. His faith guided the way he lived, the way he loved others, and the legacy he leaves behind.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara McCaslin; Son, Michael McCaslin; Daughter, Jenny Spelts, and husband, Sam Spelts; Nine cherished grandchildren: Rylee Rook, Bryson McCaslin, Tatym Lawson, Hattie Spelts, Dean Spelts, Molly Spelts, Ruby Spelts, Gus Spelts, and Tallulah Spelts; Sister, Sue Lokey; Nephews and niece, David Smalley (wife Terri Smalley), Vanesa Graver, Brad Lokey and Robert Donald; Dear friends, Ron and Melissa Key; along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Eugene and Edna Lee McCaslin; Sister, Rosemary Smalley; Brothers-in-law, Jack Lokey, Johnny Smalley, Richard Donald, Bill Donald, Nephew, Gary Graver.; and In-laws, Jim and Dorothy Donald.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel, followed by interment with military honors at Fort Smith National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.

Though Bob’s family mourns his passing, they rejoice in knowing that he is home with the Lord he faithfully served. His unwavering faith, generous heart, strong work ethic, and deep love for his family will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
