PAMT sees narrow Q1 loss, revenue falls more than 8%

Tontitown-based carrier PAMT Corp. posted a net loss and a revenue decline in the first quarter of 2026. Before the markets closed Friday (May 1), PAMT reported a loss of $8,000 in the first quarter compared to a loss of $8.14 million in the same period last year.
Revenue declined by 8.7% to $141.88 million from $155.34 million.
The operating results were impacted by a one-time $12.7 million gain on the sale of property in Laredo, Texas. The gain contributed to a $3 million income tax expense and a net after-tax benefit of about $9.7 million.
In logistics operations, revenue increased by 0.3% to $44.4 million from $44.27 million. Operating ratio, or expenses as a percentage of revenue, was 95.4% in the first quarter compared to 98% in the same period last year.
According to the earnings report, the company plans to “more actively implement share repurchases” in the second quarter of 2026. The timing and amount of the purchases depend on market conditions, cash flows and securities law limitations. Under the company’s stock repurchase program that was most recently extended and expanded in July 2023, 472,845 shares remain available for purchase. The program approved the purchase of up to 500,000 shares.
Following are other metrics in the company’s first quarter compared to the same period last year.
• Revenue per mile fell by 14 cents to $1.90 from $2.04.
• Total loads declined by 9.62% to 85,541 from 94,644.
• Average company-driver trucks fell by 6.96% to 1,551 from 1,667.
• Average owner-operator trucks decreased by 11.87% to 453 from 514.
Shares of PAMT (NASDAQ: PAMT) closed Friday at $9.71, down 39 cents or 3.86%. In the past 52 weeks, the stock has ranged between $7.15 and $17.29.
