A grassroots initiative to beautify the city of Paragould has surpassed more than 1,000 volunteers. Clean Sweep Paragould now has 1,003 volunteers and they contributed 2,507 hours of work during the last week to cleanup the city.

Projects tackled ranged from large-scale litter removal and illegal dumping cleanup to beautification efforts and public art installations. The initiative resulted in the recycling of 889 tires, enhancements to 7 public parks, and the completion of 4 new murals, adding color and vibrancy to highly visible areas throughout Paragould.

In addition, volunteers removed countless loads of trash, significantly improving the overall appearance and environmental quality of the community.

“Clean Sweep is more than just a cleanup it’s a reflection of who we are as a community,” said Allison Hestand, Director of Economic Development. “To see more than 1,000 people step up and invest their time into making Paragould better speaks volumes about the pride our residents have in this city.”

The impact of this year’s effort is both immediate and lasting. In the short term, the removal of litter and debris has enhanced safety and curb appeal across the city. Long term, the improvements to parks and the addition of public art contribute to quality of life, tourism, and community identity, Hestand added.

“Events like Clean Sweep build momentum,” Hestand added. “They show what’s possible when we work together and continue to move Paragould forward.”
