Rachel Netrefa had worked as a teacher and administrator for years and knew that some of her students were in foster care but didn’t know much about it. That all changed when she and her husband had to become foster parents to her nieces for 18 months.
She decided to quit her job, and in October of 2024 she opened The CALL of Lawrence and Randolph Counties. The CALL is a statewide, faith-based organization that provides support for foster families.
The CALL has 22 volunteers in its service area and is supported by 19 churches. It provides everything from meals, diapers, birthday presents and others. The organization is working with an investor and other business partners to build a 3,500-square-foot facility in Walnut Ridge in the near future.
