Siloam Springs-based broiler breeder Cobb-Vantress is seeking proposals for the 2026 funding cycle of the Cobb Research Initiative. The global program supports research that advances innovation in poultry genetics.
Researchers can submit proposals online at this link. The application deadline is March 3.
“At Cobb, our mission is to continually elevate genetics, global food security and production efficiency,” said Dr. William Herring, vice president of research and development at Cobb. “Achieving these goals requires insights far beyond traditional poultry science. By working with experts in engineering, data science, molecular biology, automation and other disciplines, we’re accelerating innovation and delivering tools that enhance genetic progress worldwide.”
Following are the goals of the Cobb Research Initiative.
• Strengthen the genetics of Cobb products through enhanced management tools and advanced analytics.
• Improve animal health and welfare outcomes of poultry flocks and reduce the impact of avian pathogens.
• Develop technologies that accelerate genetic progress across all traits, including advancing new traits and improving measurement of existing ones.
• Advance knowledge of nutrition, health, fertility and hatchability as they relate to Cobb broiler breeder genetics.
Since the initiative was launched in 2023, Cobb has received more than 100 applications and funded more than 15 projects.
“These projects are true partnerships,” Herring said. “Our collaborative approach sets the CRI apart, and the feedback from research teams has been overwhelmingly positive.”
