Missouri-based beef cattle ranch The 808 Ranch, which established a 1,000-acre operation near Pea Ridge in April, announced an expansion of its Precision Genetics Angus program through a new lease agreement with Adams Cattle Co.

Under the agreement, The 808 Ranch will acquire more than 400 Angus cattle and manage 1,752 acres on the Cowskin Prairie, north of Southwest City, Mo., between Missouri Highway 43 and Stateline Road. The property is about 5 miles south of The 808 Ranch on the Elk, which was established five years ago.

The expansion will be called The 808 Ranch on the Prairie. This, along with the new operation near Pea Ridge, will help the ranch meet growing national demand for high-quality Angus beef. Lamar Steiger and his wife, Shari, own The 808 Ranch. The Steiger family lives in Bentonville.

“This is not the end of an era for the Adams family, but the start of a new era with our close friends, the Steigers,” said Eve Adams, owner and trustee of the Adams Cattle Co. “While just 5 miles away from the Steigers’ ranch, our families and our love of the land have grown up together since the early ‘70s. To know our land will continue in the hands of such great stewards brings us great joy.”

Along with the announcement, Carl Steiger has been named general manager of The 808 Ranch. He will be responsible for all three of The 808 Ranch locations, including operations, land management and livestock care.

Chace Jamison will continue in his role as cattle and genetics manager, building the herd and advancing the Precision Genetics Angus program.

“The family and crew at The 808 are thankful and excited to carry on the Adams’ family commitment to the land and livestock,” Lamar Steiger said. “Our friendship dates to the 1970s when both families milked Jersey cows and grew up together in 4H youth activities.”
