Fayetteville-based architecture and design firm Modus Studio recently received two 2025 Small Project Awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA), according to a news release.
The firm was honored for its work on the Centennial Park pavilion in Fayetteville and the Osage Park pavilion in Bentonville.
The AIA Small Project Awards are presented annually and recognize design excellence in built works under 5,000 square feet. This is the third time Modus Studio has been honored with this national award.
“These types of in-between projects often provide the opportunity to explore architecture in unexpected ways — through form, detail and material,” said Chris Baribeau, principal and founder of Modus Studio. “It’s an honor to be recognized by the AIA for work that reflects our community and the potential of design to elevate small-scale public spaces.”
The Centennial Park pavilion serves as a hub for Fayetteville’s cycling park, offering amenities for registration, awards and vendors. It was designed to “echo the city’s natural topography and agricultural history,” the release shows. Project partners included the city of Fayetteville, Crossland Construction, Tatum-Smith-Welcher Engineers, CEI and Engineering Elements.
The pavilion for the 55-acre Osage Park “is a light-filled structure with a cypress facade and a green roof viewing platform,” the release shows. “Referencing the adjacent municipal airport, the design connects aviation and community gathering.”
Project partners included the city of Bentonville, Trailblazers, Peel Compton Foundation, Ecological Design Group, Tatum-Smith-Welcher Engineers, Crossland Construction and Engineering Elements.
Modus Studio has 30 full-time employees.
