Sales tax revenue the four largest Northwest Arkansas cities rose 4.45% through the first six reporting months of 2025. The cumulative revenue in Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale from the June data was $57.614 million.

June revenue is derived from the 1% local sales tax each city collected in April, resulting in a two-month lag in the data. For the month, cumulative revenue in the cities totaled $9.951 million, up 12.41% from the same month a year ago. This reversed the 12.28% decline reported in April, which included a 72% decrease in Bentonville.

Bentonville led with revenue totaling $2.316 million, up 34.77% from a year ago. Bentonville continues to see large swings in its tax revenue collections on a month-to-month basis, impacted by large tax rebates that offset revenue. The city continues to grow its retail sector with the new Walmart corporate campus creating retail space that did not previously exist along Eighth and J streets.

Bentonville sales tax revenue totaled $12.764 million through the first six months of 2025, up 4.32% from the same period last year.

Rogers revenue totaled $2.674 million, up 11.07%. The June gains followed 8.91% revenue growth in May. In four of the past six months, Rogers has recorded sales tax revenue growth compared to the prior-year period. Rogers sales tax revenue totaled $15.396 million in the first six reporting months, up 2.03% from the same period last year. Revenue has been offset by rebates of $1.06 million through May, according to the city.

Springdale continues to be the only city among the four with positive growth in each of the past six reporting months. The city had June sales tax revenue of $2.171 million, up 6.12% from the same month last year. This came on the heels of gains of 4.54% in May, 6.06% in April, and 18% in March.

Mayor Doug Sprouse has said the city’s growth may be somewhat slower than its neighbors, but it’s also steadier with fewer ups and downs. For the full six months reported in 2025, Springdale collected $12.891 million in revenue, up 7.78% from the year-ago period. Springdale leads the region in total growth over the past six-month period.

Fayetteville reported sales tax revenue of $2.789 million in the June report, up 4.07% from a year ago. Through the six months reported in June, Fayetteville’s sales tax revenue totaled $16.562 million, up 4.33% from a year ago.
