Judith Ann Griffin Tanner, 86, of Fort Smith, passed away at home with her family on June 24th, 2025.

She was born February 10th, 1939, in Rawlins, Wyoming, to Joseph and Dorothy (Carle) Hammond. She was a retired teacher and media specialist with Fort Smith Public Schools and Fort Smith Christian School.

Judy loved the Lord and knew Him as the source of the many blessings she received in this life, most importantly her salvation and her beloved family. The people she loved most called her “Nannie.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gene Griffin, her daughter, Joni Armstrong, and her second husband, James Tanner.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcy Hamilton (husband Pat), grandchildren, Sarah Chanthaseny (husband Cody), Seth Armstrong, Katie Walton (husband Steven), Keith Patterson, and great-grandchildren, Abby Barnes, Sydney and Addelyn Armstrong, Ethan Hancock, Cole Chanthaseny, and Oakley Patterson.

Pallbearers will be Seth Armstrong, Keith Patterson, Ethan Hancock, Cody and Cole Chanthaseny, and Steven Walton.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Edwards Funeral Home, 201 N 12th St, Fort Smith, AR 72901. A graveside service will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 10:00am held at Liberty Cemetery, 11736 S AR-76, Greenwood, AR 72936.
