Fort Smith Public Schools name new deputy superintendent, SHS basketball coach

Dr. Tiffany Bone has been named deputy superintendent of Fort Smith Public Schools, and Chuck Davis has been hired as the Southside High School head boys basketball coach, the district has announced.
The Fort Smith Public School Board of Education on Monday (May 19) approved the two employee moves.
Bone, who has worked as assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction for four years at the district, will begin in the new role on July 1.
“Dr. Bone represents a leader who can bring significant experience and leadership to the Deputy Superintendent role. I have the utmost respect and confidence in Dr. Bone to lead during this critical time at FSPS. I am grateful for Dr. Bone’s willingness to serve FSPS,” said Acting Superintendent Martin Mahan.
Bone’s other work experience includes assistant superintendent of Jacksonville North Pulaski School District, assistant superintendent for Learning Services at Pine Bluff School District, administrator in Bryant Public Schools, and administrator in Hope Public Schools.

Bone holds a doctorate of school leadership from Arkansas Tech University Center for Leadership and Learning, has an education specialist certificate in Educational Leadership, a master’s degree in education, and a bachelor’s degree from Henderson State University.

Since joining this district in 2021, FSPS has held a special place in my heart, and I am thrilled to continue serving a community that values education and the success of every student,’ Bone noted in a statement.
Davis comes to Fort Smith after 14 years of coaching, with the most recent as head senior high boys basketball coach at the Clarksville (Ark.) Public School District. His other work includes Shiloh Christian High School head senior high basketball coach, and assistant athletic director in Springdale for three years.
He has a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and has teaching licenses in physical education, oaching 7-12 grades, English/language arts/social studies 4-8 grades, and science/mathematics 4-8 grades.
“I was fortunate to have played for Coach Brad Johnson (University of Arkansas) and Coach Beau Thompson (Farmington Athletic Director) in Junior High and Senior High before attending the University of Arkansas. I have coached at Ozark, Elkins, Shiloh Christian, and Clarksville. I have participated in several Conference Champions seasons and State Tournament wins over the past 14 years,” Davis said in a statement.
