The Brookland School District has acquired 103 acres for its master-planned expansion, according to Haag Brown Commercial. An intermediate school will be built on the swath of land that is about 2 miles northeast of the campus abutting U.S. 49B in between Arkansas 230 and Craighead County Road 950.
Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. The land was acquired in separate deals, one closing in February 2024 and the second January 2025.
“Brookland School is a vital part of the city of Brookland’s future,” said Mayor Kenneth Jones.
Haag-Brown had been working with the school district, one of the fastest growing in Arkansas during recent years, to find land adequate for the expansion.
“There were several significant hurdles to overcome — annexing and zoning, traffic considerations, infrastructure capabilities, and survey discrepancies, just to name a few. But through collaboration with the city and the determination of the school board, we successfully navigated these challenges to make this expansion a reality,” said Jeff Armstrong, with Haag Brown Commercial.
The initial phase of development will focus on constructing an intermediate school. The project will be developed by Nabholz Construction.
“The acquisition of this new property for the Brookland School District will allow us to better serve our school and our community,” said Brett Bunch, Brookland School District superintendent. “With our growth and the vision of our school board, we will be able to continue to provide an exceptional education and job future for our students.”
“Our firm has played a role in 20 deals in Brookland over the past decade, many of them notable,” said Joshua Brown, Haag Brown Commercial co-founder. “However, no real estate transaction is more significant to the city than the sale of these 100 acres to the Brookland school system. This deal will shape the commercial and residential landscape for the next 20 years.”
