Joe Lloyd, a longtime Tyson Foods executive, has been appointed as the president and CEO of The Jones Center in Springdale. He replaces Terri Trotter, who resigned this past November after a little over two years in the job.

According to a news release, Lloyd’s appointment coincides with the center’s work to revamp its 50-acre campus, supported by a Design Excellence Grant from the Walton Family Foundation.

“Over the past four years, the organization has worked with a design team to craft plans for a Campus Vision Master Plan,” a news release said. “These extensive plans will transition to Lloyd to bring to life as he takes over as President and CEO.”

Under Lloyd’s leadership, The Jones Center also aims to expand its revenue streams and community outreach.

The Jones Center provides recreational and educational activities and programming. It was founded in 1995 by Springdale philanthropist Bernice Jones, the wife of Jones Truck Lines founder Harvey Jones. She envisioned a destination where all are welcome, and no one is turned away based on their ability to pay. Through the support of the Walmart Foundation, The Jones Center provides program scholarships and activity passes to area children and families.

The 220,000-square-foot center has Northwest Arkansas’ only indoor ice arena, the Tyson Foods Fitness Center, an indoor pool complex, a gymnasium with an indoor track, and a conference center.

According to its most recent IRS filings, The Jones Center, which employs 100 people, had over $18.4 million in assets.

Lloyd brings over 30 years of experience from Tyson Foods, where he held positions including vice president of technology and chief ethics and compliance officer. He has also been involved in nonprofit work as a board member of the United Way of Northwest Arkansas and the Downtown Springdale Alliance. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas.

Lloyd will also oversee the Harvey & Bernice Jones Trust, established in 1994 to support regional nonprofits.
