The University of Arkansas announced Tuesday (Sept. 7) a subscription-based content streaming network to showcase the Razorbacks.
The service is called Hogs+, and it’s set to launch Friday (Sept. 10) at arkansasrazorbacks.com and hogsplus.com. According to a UA news release, Hogs+ is a partnership with Sport & Story, a Fayetteville company headed up by executive producer Bo Mattingly that produces documentary films, podcasts and other content.
The UA said in the release that it’s among the first college athletics departments to launch its own direct-to-consumer subscription-based streaming content network. It will feature exclusive content that will take Razorback fans behind the scenes with their favorite teams, athletes and coaches.
A subscription costs $7.99 per month. Hogs+ subscribers that are not already Razorback Foundation members will receive a complimentary Razorback Foundation membership, discounts on Razorbacks merchandise and other benefits.
“We’re excited to launch Hogs+, an innovative way to connect our fans to their favorite student-athletes and coaches with compelling behind-the-scenes content,” UA Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek said in a statement. “With help from Sport & Story, we’re able to provide Razorback fans with something no other athletic program in the nation is providing. Our vision is to always be our best in anything we do. Hogs+ puts us at the forefront of delivering engaging and inspiring stories about our athletic programs, student-athletes, coaches and letterwinners.”
The UA says Hogs+ production crews have been embedded with Razorbacks football coach Sam Pittman and the football team since the first team meeting in early August. The behind-the-scenes content will be seen in the first four episodes of “The Follow” on Hogs+.
“I’m grateful for Hunter Yurachek’s vision that allows us to connect Razorback fans to their team in a way they have never experienced before,” Mattingly said in a statement. “Streaming compelling original content directly to consumers is the future of college athletics, and we’re proud to help make the University of Arkansas an innovative leader in college sports by delivering this premium content every week through Hogs+.”
