Rogers-based America’s Car-Mart will move its dealership at 351 Highway 412 East in Siloam Springs to a new location after the retirement of a longtime used car dealer.
Car-Mart is expected to move the dealership to the existing location of 2B’s Auto Sales at 2100 U.S. Highway 412 East in Siloam Springs.
Jeff Williams, president and CEO of Car-Mart, said the company’s existing dealership in Siloam Springs has outgrown its space.
Car-Mart will lease the 2B’s Auto Sales site, which is on more than 5 acres and includes a detail shop.
Dennis Bergthold, owner of 2B’s Auto Sales, said Car-Mart contacted him about a year ago on whether he would like to retire and lease the property to the company.
“I hadn’t really thought about it up until then, but … it’s probably a good time to do it,” Bergthold said. “It’s a great opportunity for us. I’m 62, which isn’t that old, but I thought … we’d use this opportunity to slow down.”
2B’s will close Aug. 31 after 27 years in business, and Car-Mart’s lease starts Sept. 1.
In 2007, 2B’s built its existing dealership location on the site after operating there in a remodeled gas station. It previously operated across the road for about a year before moving to its existing location in 1994.
Car-Mart hopes to be open at the new location in November. The company also operates Discount Auto in Siloam Springs, and it will remain open, Williams said.
Bergthold looks forward to retirement and plans to travel and visit family. He’s worked in the automotive industry since January 1984 when he started with Daryl Hickman Chevrolet Olds. There, he was salesman for about a year and a used car manager for more than eight years before opening 2B’s.
