Talk Business & Politics is expanding its Tusk to Tail product with a separate website, tailgating merchandise and more content about Razorback sports written primarily from the fans’ perspective.

Now in its eighth year, Tusk to Tail is the sport of tailgating as organized, performed and perfected by a group of Hog fans who have been tailgating together sober and otherwise for more than a decade. The primary focus of Tusk to Tail will be to follow Hog football through the fans’ perspective with their insightful, irreverent, smart-alecky and sometimes practical style. However, the new effort also will include new content (stories, photos, predictions columns, etc.) through the baseball and basketball seasons. Readers will also find an aggregate of Razorback sports news feeds from our content partners at 5 News, KAIT8, and KATV.

“This is a natural evolution of Tusk to Tail, which has grown each year in web traffic and popularity,” said Talk Business & Politics Executive Editor Michael Tilley. “Part of that growth is a result of us doing our best to stay true to reporting, so to speak, on the social aspect of what can be a frustrating life for diehard Hog fans. We plan to keep that focus with the new website.”

The late great Patricia Brown “discovered” a few members of what would become the Tusk to Tail crew at a birthday party in Northwest Arkansas almost 10 years ago. She was impressed with their dedication to tailgating, and what was then The City Wire gave birth, again, so to speak, to the Tusk to Tail content series.

The following headlines from the past several seasons provide some idea as to what a reader can expect from Tusk to Tail coverage.
• “They’re talking baseball and bed pooping. Yep, the season is that bad.”
• “Notes on manly parts, the money gun and missed opportunities”
• “We were standing in line for a Pepsi when a pillow fight broke out”
• “These Hog fans will run out of booze long before they run out of optimism”

David Rice, a Tusk to Tail member and de facto writer for the group, provided this description of the crew in his essay about the new Tusk to Tail website.

“Tusk to Tail is a dyed-in-the-Pantone-201-colored-wool collective of Razorbacks fans traveling to every game together, home and away, since the 90s. This decade alone, we’ve chased Sugar Bowl highs and skidded through a 17-game SEC losing streak, the longest in school history. Arkansas has currently lost 11 straight conference games, but Tusk to Tail continues to buy the ticket and take the ride.”
