Hytrol’s Moyer named industry’s top young professional

MHI named Hytrol’s Ben Moyer, director of research and development, as the material handling industry’s top young professional for 2019 during Industry Night at its ProMat trade show last week in Chicago.
The Outstanding Young Professional Award is awarded to an MHI member under the age of 40 for their professional accomplishments and affiliations, demonstrated effective leadership skills, contributions to their company and innovation at work or in the industry.
“I am truly honored and humbled by this recognition,” Moyer said. “The R&D team at Hytrol is a great group who make a vision become a reality. I am blessed to work with them and for a company that provides me with the trust and resources to create new innovations.”
Moyer joined Hytrol in 2017 and leads its research and development team to create new material handling innovations and technologies. Last summer, he led renovations to Hytrol’s Technology Center and turned it into a center of innovation for material handling.
The center features a conveyor showcase, an industry-exclusive augmented reality room that allows customers to experience their material handling design virtually before it is built or installed and ample space for his team to develop new products and technology for prototype testing. He led his team to create the industry’s first all-electric narrow belt accumulator and Hytrol’s latest patent.
“Hytrol is very proud of Ben and this recognition,” Hytrol President David Peacock said. “He is such an asset to both Hytrol and the material handling industry. Ben is a natural leader and has an uncanny vision for the future of material handling industry. We are fortunate he is part of the Hytrol Family.”
Moyer promotes science, technology, engineering and math in children and the impact it has on the future of the material handling profession. He visits Jonesboro-area schools to educate children about the engineering field and various career options available to them and serves on the Arkansas STEM Coalition Board of Directors and the Academies at Jonesboro High School STEM Advisory Board.
A native of Tiffin, Ohio, Moyer earned his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from Grove City College and his master of business administration from the University of Phoenix. He worked for Oceaneering in Houston before joining Hytrol.
