Little Rock nonprofit Arkansas Environmental Federation (AEF) announced Tuesday (Aug. 14) that Ava Franks Roberts has been chosen as its new executive director, effective Aug. 27.

Roberts will replace Charles Miller, who has been with AEF since 2013 and announced in June he was leaving to pursue other opportunities.

Roberts was previously vice president and director of government relations for the Arkansas Bankers Association. She was an associate counsel for the Arkansas Insurance Department before that.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Ava join our team,” AEF president Kelly Crouch said in a statement. “She brings so much to the table and I am certain that her education and experience will be tremendous assets when supporting the mission of our organization.”

Roberts graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and earned a Juris Doctorate from the William H. Bowen School Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

AEF was formed in 1967 and has about 200 members, including businesses and industries that deal with environmental, safety and health regulations on a daily basis.
