Sunstar Insurance Group has expanded operations in Arkansas by acquiring the former Town & Country Insurance Agency in Jonesboro from Stephens Insurance. Sunstar is a regional insurance agency headquartered in Memphis. It operates in Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, and Kansas.

“We’ll now be known as Sunstar Insurance Group of Arkansas,” said Jim Agan, president and CEO of the Jonesboro office. “Our clients can still expect the same great service and family-oriented values we’ve offered for the past 50 years. We’ve returned to our roots of being a strong community partner. The only thing that will change is the name on the door.”

In September, the insurance group bought the property and casualty accounts and assets from the insurance affiliates of Simmons Bank, giving Sunstar new areas of operations in Arkansas and Tennessee. The Arkansas agency group has offices in Little Rock, Helena, and Jonesboro.

Founded in 2012 by David “Casey” Bowlin, Sunstar Insurance is the 73rd largest property and casualty insurance agency in the U.S. as ranked by the industry trade magazine, Insurance Journal. Sunstar has more than $250 million in premiums placed on behalf of clients, representing virtually all the major national insurance companies, and most of the regionally focused carriers covering commercial lines, personal lines, employee benefits, and surety bonds. Sunstar employs 250 workers.

“We are delighted to take another step in our mission to become the agency of choice across Arkansas,” said Andrew “A.B.” Meadors, CEO of Sunstar in Arkansas. “The amazing team that Jim has put together in Jonesboro perfectly aligns with our values and goals. We will keep all employees in place and are excited about this burgeoning new market for us. Sunstar is an entrepreneurial company built on the power of our local presence in each of the communities we serve.”
