Land for a new restaurant on Pleasant Grove Road in Rogers has been acquired.

Joplin, Mo., businessman A.J. Nursariwala, principal of The Nursariwala Group, paid Home Bancshares Inc. $925,000 for a 1.68-acre site at the southwest corner of Pleasant Grove Road and Dixieland Road, east of Interstate 49. The purchase price equals $31.23 per square foot.

The Rogers Planning Commission has approved development of the site for the casual dining restaurant chain Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom.

Nursariwala has been an Old Chicago franchisee for nearly two years, and operates a location in Joplin. The Rogers location is scheduled to open before the end of the year.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of the Old Chicago family, as we propel Old Chicago’s national expansion efforts forward,” Nursariwala said in a statement. “I look forward to being part of the brand’s continued success and becoming an integral part of the communities we will serve.”

The Rogers location is the first of six new restaurants Nursariwala has agreed to open in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi.
